Ратха Ятра в Саванне

The sacred Jagannath Ratha Yatra, taking place in Savannah on March 17th, as part of the grand St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The procession will begin at 10:15 in the morning, right in downtown Savannah, and it will run until about 12:15—possibly extending to 1:15—so we have a joyful, vibrant window for the celebration. This Yatra is a rare opportunity for devotees to bring Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra’s divine presence into the public space, amidst the city’s largest parade.

We’re inviting a small group of kirtan singers and matajis who will dance in synchronized, traditional saris—graceful, colorful, and spiritually uplifting. While we have a limited number of official participants due to coordination with the St. Patrick’s Day authorities, we warmly welcome all devotees to join as supporters, simply standing along the route, cheering, and immersing in the bliss.

We’ll be offering lodging and prasadam for those who prefer to stay overnight, along with a morning program before the parade.

This event is anticipated to draw over hundreds of thousands of visitors—some estimates say up to 750,000. It will be a perfect chance for devotees to spread the joy of Krishna consciousness, even as we can’t distribute items directly—we encourage devotees to take this opportunity to share books and spiritual literature around the town. And it may even be streamed live, so keep an eye out for updates.
